The Kansas softball team wrapped up its first series sweep in walk-off fashion Saturday afternoon at Arrocha Ballpark.
Sydnee Ramsey delivered a two-run double in the bottom of the seventh to help KU claim a 5-4 win over Green Bay. The Jayhawks recorded their first series sweep since May of 2016, when the team swept Iowa State.
Hannah Todd replaced Tarin Travieso in the second inning and never looked back, pitching 5 2/3 innings with no runs allowed on three hits with one strikeout. Todd earned her first career victory at Kansas
Green Bay jumped out early on the Jayhawks, tagging the KU pitching staff for three runs in the first inning off a home run. The Phoenix netted the team’s final run of the game in the second on a solo homer.
Kansas (11-20) plated one run in the first, second and third innings, including a home run by Ramsey on the first pitch of the second inning. After walks by Morgyn Wynne and Becki Monaghan in the seventh, Ramsey came through with a double into the left center gap.
Kansas will open Big 12 play next weekend with a three-game set against Baylor at Arrocha Ballpark.
