The Big 12 Conference announced Wednesday morning that Kansas junior starting pitcher Ryan Zeferjahn was named to its Preseason All-Big 12 Team, which is voted on by the league’s coaches.
The team consists of 18 players from across the conference, with Zeferjahn earning one of the six pitching spots.
“Zeferjahn is one of the best pitchers in our league,” head coach Ritch Price said in a team release. “He took a big jump last season in his development, and if he does the same this year, he has a chance to be one of the most dominant pitchers in college baseball.”
In 2018, Zeferjahn was named to the All-Big 12 second team after posting an 8-5 record and a 4.48 ERA. He struck out 100 batters, tying for the sixth-most in a single season by a Jayhawk.
