The Kansas women’s golf team sits in sixth place after firing a 320 (+32) during the second round of the Big 12 Championship Monday at the Golf Club of Oklahoma, which brings its 36-hole total to 617 (+41).
The par-72, 6,341-yard course was tough to navigate for all nine teams on day two, as no team improved on its first-round score and no player in the 45-player field shot below par.
Junior Yi-Tsen Chou is pacing the Jayhawks, as she sits in a tie for third after two rounds of play with a 75 (+3). Chou carded a birdie on her first hole of the day and ultimately finished with three to help her move seven spots up the leaderboard and earn a spot in the top-five going into Tuesday’s final round with an 149 (+5) for the tournament.
Pear Pooratanaopa is in the top-20 thanks to a solid back nine which included two birdies. She tallied an 80 (+8) in the second round and she is 154 (+10) for the tournament, currently sitting in a tie for 17th place. Senior Ariadna Fonseca Diaz ended the day shooting 80 (+8) and is tied for 29th place at 158 (+14).
The final round is slated to begin at 9 a.m. Tuesday.
