KU women’s golf in 18th place after round one at Clemson Invitational

The Kansas women’s golf team opened play at the Clemson Invitational on Sunday morning, playing 18 holes on the par-72, 6,260 yard course at the Reserve at Lake Keowee. The Jayhawks finished in 18th place after round one, firing a 15-over 303.

Sophomore Sera Tadokoro led the way on day one, firing a solid round of 3-over 75 to put her in a tie for 67th place. She carded an eagle on her fifth hole of the day and finished the back nine with a 1-over effort. Joining Tadokoro in 67th place was freshman Pear Pooratanaopa, who carded a birdie and also shot 1-over on the back nine.

Senior Chomchana Phuchanbanchob hit for par on eight of her first nine holes, but couldn’t overcome a trio of bogeys. She shot a 4-over 76 for the day, which put her in a tie for 80th.

The second round of the Clemson Invitational is slated to take place at 8 a.m. Monday.
