Washington’s return garners Big 12 Player of the Week honors

In her first week back in action, redshirt senior Jessica Washington earned her first Big 12 Player of the Week honor for the 2018-19 season and second of her career, the league announced Monday afternoon.

Washington averaged 23.5 points behind a 53.8 shooting percentage to lead the Jayhawks to a 2-0 record on the week. In two starts, the sixth-year senior shot 58.3 percent from long range, while also registering six assists, three rebounds and three steals.

In her 2018-19 debut, Washington netted 30-point behind 6-of-10 shooting from beyond the arc against George Mason. Washington’s 30-point performance is the third time in career she’s scored 30 or more points in game. Against Iona, Washington scored a team-high 17 points with five assists and two steals.
