When Kansas freshman Alexandra Emilianov released her fifth and final discus throw of the night Saturday at Baylor’s Clyde Hart Track and Field Stadium, it set program, stadium and Big 12 Track and Field Championship records.

A freshman from Moldova, Emilianov’s mark of 60.24 meters (197 feet, 8 inches) gave her an individual conference championship in her first season of collegiate competition.

In women’s pole vault, Jayhawks secured two of the top three finishes, as Andrea Willis (14-2.75) took second place and Laura Tayor (14-0.75) placed third. KU’s Teri Huslig finished eighth in the women’s heptathlon.

For the Kansas men, Dylan Hodgson took second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (9:07.82), while Barden Adams picked up a third-place medal in long jump (25-11), Nicolai Ceban was fourth in shot put (58-4), Joel Long earned fourth in the high jump (7-0.5) and Brandon Lombardino managed seventh in shot put (56-5.25).

The KU women finished Saturday in third place in team points (46), behind Texas (51) and Kansas State (66). The KU men stood in fifth place (36), and K-State led the standings (65).
