Winter Garden, Fla. ? Kansas University freshman women’s golfer Ariadna Fonseca Diaz won the Orlando International Amateur at the 6,110-yard, 72-par Orange County National Golf Center Wednesday.
Fonseca Diaz won the tournament over 12 others after beating Alice Barbieri with a birdie in the first playoff hole. She shot 219 (3-over) over three rounds in three days. This was Fonseca Diaz’s first tournament win since the HJGT Orange Lake Junior Open in April of 2015.
She had senior teammate Yupaporn Kawinpakorn caddying for her.
“It was a great confidence booster because I had prepared so much on my game,” she said.
