? The postseason might be a short one for the Kansas University soccer team, which was eliminated, 2-0 by Texas Tech in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 Championship on Wednesday afternoon.

The sixth-seeded Jayhawks (10-8-2) kept up with the third-seeded Red Raiders in the first half, outshooting their opponents 8-3 (3-0 on goal). Both teams remained scoreless into the second half before Texas Tech all-conference freshman Janine Beckie scored in the 58th minute.

KU freshmen Ashley Williams and Courtney Dickerson couldn’t convert on potential equalizers in the 76th, 77th and 78th minutes and Tech senior Dawn Ward all but clinched the game with a five-yard score in the 82nd minute.

The Jayhawks’ final attempts on goal bounced off the Red Raiders’ cross bar and were otherwise deflected, dropping Kansas to 3-9-3 in 12 appearances at the conference tournament. KU has not advanced in the tourney since a victory against Texas Tech during the 2009 season.

Dickerson led the KU offense with a team-high four shots, all on goal.

Kansas will now wait for the NCAA Tournament field to be announced on Nov. 5.
