Eugene, Ore. ? Kansas University sophomore Mason Finley placed eighth in the senior men’s discus throw on Thursday at the USA Championships.
Finley also placed eighth in the event last year.
After Finley started the day with a foul, on his second attempt he hit a mark of 59.91 meters (196-06 feet) to move up the leaderboard.
Finley will be in action again on Sunday in the shot put. The event is set to begin at 2:55 p.m.
Freshman Jessica Marozsek, a Seymour, Wisc. native, took third place in the junior women’s discus throw on Thursday.
