Kansas swimmer earns another Trials invite

Kansas University swimmer Stephanie Payne will compete in two events during the 2012 Olympic Trials in Omaha, Neb.

The senior from Derby finished the 400 IM preliminaries in a personal-best 4:51.46 Thursday at the ConocoPhillips national championships in Palo Alto, Calif. Payne’s performance bested her previous lifetime best by about eight seconds. Her first Olympic opportunity was earned at sectionals in Columbia, Mo. She finished the 200 butterfly in a personal best 2:16.39.
