Pebble Beach, Calif. ? Former Kansas University golfer Gary Woodland shot a 76 for the second straight round of the U.S. Open golf championship on Friday, finishing 10-over par and missing the cut.
Woodland, who opened the tournament with a 5-over-par 76 on Thursday, opened his second round on the back nine. He recorded two birdies and one par on the front nine to move to 4-under par through 27 holes.
Woodland, a Topeka native who graduated from Kansas in 2007, stayed at 4-over par for his first 11 holes until making bogey on two of his next three holes. He made an eight on the eighth hole, his 17th hole of the day.
Last year, Woodland tied for 47th in the U.S. Open at Bethpage in New York.
