Kansas University softball coach Megan Smith announced the signing of Kristin Martinez to a national letter of intent with KU.

A left-handed pitcher, Martinez compiled a 0.54 ERA in 2009 to help lead O’Connell (Texas) College Preparatory to a state championship. During her senior season, the Texas City, Texas, native was named district MVP and to the all-tournament team.

Prior to O’Connell, Martinez spent two years at Texas City High School where she garnered first team all-district honors both seasons while helping the Stingarees to a regional championship in 2007.
