Allen Fieldhouse will be closed to the public once the Kansas University men’s and women’s basketball seasons end.
Closure is necessary in order to continue with renovation and refurbishment of the 54-year-old facility. Also being closed is the adjacent Booth Hall of Athletics.
Some work will be done on locker rooms, but the primary reason for shuttering the arena is to work on the first-floor concourses.
Athletic department officials estimate construction will continue through September. However, no date for reopening the arena to the public has been set.
