Kansas swimming routs Florida International

Miami — Kansas University’s swimming team opened the 2009 calendar year with a 178-78 rout of Florida International.

KU lost only one event.

Kansas opened the event by going 1-2-3 in the 200-yard medley relay. Among the KU winners: Emily Lanteigne in the 1,000 freestyle; Danielle Herrmann in the 200 free; Joy Bunting in the 100 breaststroke; Brittany Potter in the 200 fly; and Maria Mayrovich in the 50 free and 100 free.

The Jayhawks will face Miami today.
