KU signee Ridenhour named player of year

Kansas University signee Lee Ridenhour has been named Gatorade Baseball Player of the Year in the Sunflower State.

Ridenhour, a right-handed pitcher from Shawnee Mission West, went 6-2 with a 1.47 earned-run average this spring.

Ridenhour also played center field for the Vikings and compiled a .443 batting average. Sunflower League coaches voted the 6-foot-3, 190-pounder the conference MVP.

In the classroom, Ridenhour compiled a 3.76 grade-point average.
