Three Kansas University track-and-field athletes came up short Sunday in qualifying for the 2008 Olympic Games.

In Kingston, Jamaica, KU’s Nickesha Anderson had the fifth-best time in the women’s 200-meter preliminaries at the Jamaican Olympic Trials. She placed sixth in the finals in 22.68 seconds.

In the women’s triple-jump finals at the U.S. Olympic Trials in Eugene, Ore., KU’s Crystal Manning cleared 43 feet, 10 inches and placed eighth out of 12 who reached the finals.

And Kansas’ Jordan Scott qualified for the finals in the men’s pole vault, but did not compete Sunday due to an injury.
