Kansas University cornerback Aqib Talib was named Big 12 defensive player of the week, it was announced today.

Talib had nine tackles, an interception and a pass breakup in a 43-28 victory over Oklahoma State. His pick with 7:23 left was his fourth of the season and sealed the Jayhawks’ 10th victory of the season.

Talib is the third player to be recognized by the league office this year. Marcus Herford and Scott Webb have won special teams player of the week earlier this season.

Nebraska’s Joe Ganz won on offense and Oklahoma kick returner DeMarco Murray on special teams.
