KU women’s golf sits in 12th place

? Kansas University’s women’s golf team was in 12th place of 17 teams after Monday’s opening round of the Price’s “Give ‘Em Five Fund”/New Mexico State Invitational.

KU shot a team score of 313 on the par-72, 6,319-yard NMSU Golf Course. San Jose State leads at 296, and Boise State is second at 299.

Senior Amanda Costner leads the Jayhawks in a tie for 11th place at 75, while freshman Emily Powers is in a tie for 36th place with 78.

Annie Giangrosso (tied for 49th at 79), Meghan Gockel (tied for 68th at 81) and Jill Womble (86th at 88) round out the KU scoring.

“This was not our best day,” KU coach Erin O’Neil said. “There is still plenty of time left, and we are ready to go out to make up some ground.”

The second round is today.
