Charges dismissed in Mizzou Arena case

? A trespassing charge was recently dropped against a former Kansas University student in connection with a March incident at Mizzou Arena.

In an e-mail news release, Andrew Wymore said that the city of Columbia recently informed him that it had “deferred prosecution,” which essentially dismisses the charge. A trial had been scheduled in Columbia Municipal Court for Dec. 21.

Wymore, of Leawood, was arrested March 6 before the KU-University of Missouri basketball game in Columbia. He and three friends got in an argument with MU Police Chief Jack Watring about a banner – “Call it what you want, it will always be Allen Fieldhouse East.” – being unfurled at the arena.

Wymore was ejected from the arena but re-entered after purchasing another ticket.

Wymore declined a $50 plea bargain deal in a hearing last summer. He could have been fined $115.

Watring declined to comment Tuesday afternoon, saying he had not been informed by the city prosecutor that the charge against Wymore had been dropped.
