? Future Kansas University point guard Mario Chalmers scored 24 points off 7-of-23 shooting in the West’s 126-116 win over the North on Saturday at the U.S. Olympic basketball festival. Chalmers had 11 assists against two turnovers. Future KU shooting guard Micah Downs had 14 points off 6-of-9 shooting.

“He’s not just a prolific scorer, he’s a smart player that works for the team, not for himself. That was reflected in the 11 assists he had today,” Denver East coach Rudy Carey said of Chalmers.

In the recruits’ later game, Chalmers had 10 points and Downs seven in a losing cause as the South beat the West, 171-122.
