Kara Lowrey, head soccer coach at Emporia State, has been named an assistant coach at Kansas University.

Lowrey was chosen MIAA coach of the year after leading the Hornets to their first winning season in the program’s four-year history. E-State was 8-5-1 in the MIAA and 10-8-2 overall.

A native of Ponca City, Okla., Lowery came to E-State after a four-year stint at St. Gregory’s University in Shawnee, Okla. She was an assistant coach at Central Oklahoma from 1998-99 and began her coaching career as an assistant at Mustang, Okla., High.

Lowrey replaces Donna Holyman, who resigned to pursue other interests after spending six years working under KU head coach Mark Francis.
