? Kansas University’s Amy Gruber placed 29th in the 200 freestyle and 37th in the 50 free Friday at the NCAA Swimming Championships.

Gruber finished the 200 free in a career-best 1:48.93, the second-best time in KU history. She finished the 50 free in 23.26.

“We are really pleased with her performance so far,” KU coach Clark Campbell said. “She slipped on the turn in the 50 freestyle, so we knew she would come out and swim aggressively in the 200 freestyle race.”

Gruber will compete in her final event, the 100 free, today.
