Kansas defeat Wyoming, 98-70

All five Jayhawk starters scored in double digits as coach Roy Williams earned his 400th coaching victory with a 98-70 victory over the Cowboys. Nick Collison scored 27 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, and Jeff Graves also had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Kirk Hinrich added 19 points, Keith Langford scored 16 and Aaron miles added 14 points, eight assists and four rebounds.

“We don’t need scoring from our bench,” Williams said. “We need those grunt guys – those offensive linemen in football.”

The Jayhawks (12-3) hit 52.2 percent (36 of 69) of their shots, including 7-of-15 shooting from behind the three-point line. They also hit 86.4 percent (19 of 22) from the free-throw line.

Wyoming was led by Dante Richardson’s 29 points. Uche Nsonwu-Amadi was the only other Cowboy to score in double figures, with 10 points. He led the team with seven rebounds.

The Cowboys (12-3) shot 44.3 percent (27 of 61) from the field, but were outrebounded, 42-27, by the Jayhawks.

Kansas next will play at 7 p.m. Saturday in Allen Fieldhouse against the Kansas State Wildcats.

HALFTIME REPORT
Kirk Hinrich took charge early and Nick Collison took over late in the first half as the Jayhawks lead by 16 at the break.

Hinrich has 14 points, including four early three-pointers, and Collison leads Kansas with 17 points and six rebounds. Jeff Graves has added six points and six boards, and Keith Langford has eight points. Aaron Miles has added three points, four rebounds and seven assists.

Kansas shot an even 50 percent (20 of 40) in the first half, and Wyoming hit just 43.8 percent (14 of 32) from the floor, including 1-of-7 shooting from behind the three-point arc.

The Jayhawks outrebounded the Cowboys, 23-17, and outscored them, 13-0, on second-chance points.

Donta Richardson leads Wyoming with 13 points on 6-of-10 shooting.
