Tickets plentiful for KU’s opener

With Kansas University’s football season opener three days away, good seats are still available.

Jim Marchiony, associate athletic director for external affairs, said as of Monday, KU had sold 23,477 season tickets.

“People are still renewing,” said Marchiony, who started Aug. 11 at Kansas. “There’s no way of telling what number we’ll be at by game time, but people are still buying.”

KU sold 19,418 season tickets in 2001 and 26,500 in 2002.

As of Tuesday, KU had sold 25,700 tickets for Saturday night’s season opener against Northwestern.
