One of the top prep players to commit to Kansas University’s football team has changed his mind.
After originally giving KU coach Mark Mangino a nonbinding oral commitment last week, Lawrence Pinson, a Tulsa (Okla.) Jenks High linebacker, changed his pledge to Oklahoma State.
“It was a decision that took Lawrence and our family about three days to decide,” Pinson’s father, Larry, told TulsaSportsWeb.com. “Lawrence called coach Mangino and told him that he decided he would rather stay in-state and be closer to home. Coach Mangino was very understanding and he wished Lawrence the best on his career.”
The younger Pinson is a 6-foot-2, 246-pound linebacker who was named to The Sporting News’ Preseason National Top 130 list.
