Kansas University’s football team added to its junior college haul when punter Curtis Ansel, a 6-foot-1, 185-pounder from Garden City Community College, gave the Jayhawks a nonbinding oral commitment.
Ansel, from Lakin, led the Jayhawk Conference with a 41-yard per-punt average and was the league’s first-team punter.
“I loved my visit,” Ansel told online recruiting service MoKan Football. “I liked the coaches and players, it’s my kind of school. The players were real cool and I got a chance to talk with some of the guys who are playing at Kansas who used to play at Garden City. Kansas State was calling me a lot and I was one of their two targets. But they signed a guy out of Texas. Oklahoma State was recruiting me and Florida requested more film.”
Ansel is the eighth juco player known to have committed or already signed with KU.
