Call it, “Senior Day, the Sequel.”
Kansas University senior men’s basketball players Eric Chenowith, Kenny Gregory and Luke Axtell bring their senior barnstorming tour to Allen Fieldhouse today for an exhibition game against a group of KU students.
Tipoff is 3 p.m., after an autograph session that starts at 1:30 p.m.
Axtell won’t play in the game, but will sign autographs and sell his country compact disc.
The game expected to be low-key in nature figures to feature the outside shooting of 7-footer Eric Chenowith, who has bombed away from three-point land at some of the other tour stops. Chenowith hit a three-pointer in the NABC all-star game at the Final Four in Minneapolis.
“I’ll shoot a dozen of ’em,” Chenowith said Saturday. “We’re going to have Kenny come out and put on a show,” he added of Gregory, who is known for his vicious slam dunks.
“We’re really looking forward to bringing this to Allen Fieldhouse,” Chenowith added. “We’re going to have some fun, auctioning off some game jerseys and playing against the KU students. I think it’s going to be a great time for everybody.”
Chenowith noted there’s a “one percent chance,” ex-Jayhawk Ryan Robertson might be on hand for a guest appearance with the seniors. Other members of the KU team include Jerod Haase and Terry Nooner.
