Kansas University men’s tennis coach Mark Riley has resigned to accept the men’s head coaching position at the University of Pennsylvania.

KU assistant coach Ross Nwachukwu will serve as interim coach for upcoming season. Riley compiled a 53-44 record in four years at KU.

A native of the Philadelphia suburb of Malvern, Pa., Riley arrived at KU prior to the 1997 season after three years at Drake.

“There is only one job I would leave KU for and that is the head coaching position at the University of Pennsylvania,” Riley said. “I am looking forward to going from one great university to another great university and am flattered that the University of Pennsylvania would have me. This is a great opportunity.”

Nwachukwu played collegiately at Drake University from 1991-94. Nwachukwu also served as an assistant coach under Riley at Drake during the 1995 campaign.
