Des Moines, Iowa ? The Kansas University rowing team turned in a decent performance at the Head of Des Moines regatta Saturday. This was the first regatta of the season.
The Jayhawks competed in 8-, 4- and 2-women races, placing as high as fourth, fourth and fifth respectively. Other placings were seventh, ninth, 11th and 13th out of 24 boats in the eight-woman competition, sixth and ninth out of 22 in the four-women and sixth, 13th and 14th in the Pairs race, which featured 20 boats.
KU rowing coach Rob Catloth was “pretty pleased” with the results. He added, “we have a lot more depth than what I thought.”
Next up for the Jayhawks: Oct. 15 at the Head of the Kaw in Kansas City, Mo.
