Kansas University’s baseball team has signed pitcher Chris Smart and first baseman Adrian Jones, coach Bobby Randall announced Wednesday.
Smart, a 6-foot-4 right-hander from Omaha Westside High, posted seven wins, two saves and a 1.15 ERA as a senior. The all-state pitcher struck out 61 batters and walked 13 in 54 innings.
Smart’s brother, Pete, led KU with seven wins as a junior this spring.
Jones was an All-Region Six selection during both of his seasons at Butler County Community College. He batted .391 this spring with 81 RBIs. Jones was an all-state prep player at Olathe South.
“We are very excited to have these two young men in our program,” Randall said. “Both should contribute to the team immediately, and we are looking for big things from them in the future.”
