Kansas golf coach Ross Randall has been named coach of the United States team to face Great Britain in the 2000 Palmer Cup competition in August in Hoylake, England.
The Palmer Cup, named in honor of golfing great Arnold Palmer, is regarded as the Ryder Cup of collegiate golf.
It will feature the top eight golfers from the U.S. against the top eight players from Great Britain in various formats.
“Anytime you have an opportunity to represent your country in international competition, it represents a great honor and privilege,” said Randall, now in his 21st season as KU coach. “It certainly serves as one of the highlights of my coaching career and I’m confident it will be a memorable experience.”
The competition will be held Aug. 13-17 at the Royal Liverpool Country Club.
Randall, who directed KU to the Big 12 title last year, is a three-time conference coach of the year . He was selected to the position by the executive committee of the Golf Coaches of America.
