LIVE: from Bill Self Basketball Camp: FINAL – Blue tops Red, 62-51

**4:30 p.m. Update:**

Releford’s deep three-pointer inside of two seconds sets the final margin and the Blue squad erases a two-point halftime deficit and comes away with an easy victory.

Withey led all scorers with 16 for the Blue squad and Wesley chipped in with 12 in the victory.

For the Red, Julian Wright led with 13 points and Perry Ellis added 10.

More point totals to come shortly.

**4:29 p.m. Update:**

Tharpe knocks down two free throws with 49.7 seconds to play to push Blue’s lead to a more comfortable 59-51 margin.

**4:28 p.m. Update:**

Releford’s baseline jumper pushes the Blue lead back to six, 57-51, and we’re now down under 1:30 to play.

**4:27 p.m. Update:**

A deep three from Wright cuts the Blue lead to 55-51, 2:20 to play.

**4:26 p.m. Update:**

Eight straight by Red including a layup from Wright and a three-pointer by Morningstar forces Blue to call timeout and keeps things in question.

Blue leads 55-48 with 3:09 to play.

**4:24 p.m. Update:**

A near-alley-oop from Tharpe to McLemore leads to an easy lay-in by McLemore on the rebound and the Blue squad leads 55-40 with 4:11 to play.

Timeout Red.

**4:21 p.m. Update:**

Niko Roberts’ three-pointer and slap on the back for Travis Releford, who was guarding him, pulled the Red to within two points at 39-37, but Tharpe answered with a mid-range jumper to put Blue back up four.

The lead ballooned to nine – 46-37 – when Ben McLemore chased down his own missed three-pointer and hammered home a one-handed, uncontested dunk. A steal and a Jeff Hawkins three on the next possession gave Blue its largest lead with 7:00 to play.

**4:15 p.m. Update:**

Blue leads Red, 37-32 in the early going as Justin Wesley and Jeff Withey continue to pick up buckets inside. Jeff Hawkins also has knocked down a three-pointer this half.

Elijah Johnson seems to be coaching the Blue squad while Traylor is handling the clipboard for the Red.

**4:12 p.m. Update:**

Halftime leaders:

Perry Ellis had 8 points, Justin Wesley had 8, as well, and Jeff Withey had 8 points and 9 rebounds.

Second half under way…

**4:11 p.m. Update:**

Halftime at the camp and the Red squad leads the Blue, 28-26.

Highlights from the first half include:

• Andrew White’s drives to the rim

• Perry Ellis’ athleticism on both end of the floor

• Withey inside cleaning up the glass and scoring in the paint

• Naadir Tharpe running the show and dishing several dimes while scoring a few points

• Julian Wright and Aaron Miles doing what people remember them doing best.

• Evan Manning and Tyler Self also both seemed to hold their own in the flow of the game. Manning even knocked down a deep three.

Halftime point totals coming up…

**4:08 p.m. Update:**

Eight straight from the Blue team forced a timeout by the Red squad. A sweet alley-oop from Tharpe to Wesley, another quick bucket in the paint by Wesley and a driving layup by McLemore has tied the game.

**4:06 p.m. Update:**

Red all over the Blue squad right now, leading 22-14 with less than 5 minutes to play in the first half.

Andrew White has looked very athletic going to the rim and the Red’s defense has led to a bunch of easy buckets.

**4:00 p.m. Update:**

Red leads 12-10 thanks to a sweet baseline drive and bucket by Perry Ellis, who used the rim to fend off Withey.

Naadir Tharpe also has looked real sharp early on, picking up a couple of steals and knocking down a deep jumper. He also has talked the most and appears to be more comfortable as a leader.

For fans of Kansas University basketball past and present, it’s one of the most entertaining events of the summer in Lawrence.

Each year, a handful of former and current players get together at head coach Bill Self’s hoops camp and put on a show for all of those in attendance.

This year’s camp, which began last Sunday, is no different and there are several notable names floating around the camp waiting for the scrimmage that highlights the week.

As soon as the rosters are known, we’ll update you with who’s playing for which squad, and we’ll be sure to bring you scoring and highlight updates throughout today’s scrimmage.
