Big 12 links, Week Ten

You remember Martellus Bennett, right? Heck, for about 12 hours, he gave Kansas University the impression [he might want to two-sport it][1] in Lawrence (I was just a pup when I wrote that stupid story).Bennett had a pretty good game last week as Texas A&M’s tight end, though the Jayhawks won anyway, 19-11.After the game, Bennett’s brother, Michael, a Aggies defensive end, pretty much disrespected Kansas by saying “I’m not impressed. But I promise you, when we meet them in the Big 12 championship, we’re going to win the game.”Not only did Michael trash Kansas, he trashed Big 12 South frontrunner Oklahoma by implying the Sooners will lose their division lead. By the way, Texas A&M plays at Oklahoma this week.Part two of this story swings back around to Martellus, who provided the most hilarious commentary I’ve heard since Mike Gundy’s “I’m a man! I’m 40!” rant last month. As Dallas Morning News writer Brian Davis writes, [Martellus compares his intelligence][2] to Benjamin Franklin and Bill Gates and even ponders the possibility that the two stole his brewing ideas. He also calls his brother “borderline retarded,” a term we don’t condone here at Sawin’ Wood.Anyway, just more proof that the Big 12, even without a national juggernaut, can still put butts in the seats.Elsewhere in the league:**Brian Christopherson, Lincoln Journal Star:** New starting quarterback Joe Ganz [ is ready to lead the Huskers][3] against Kansas after Sam Keller broke his collarbone against Texas.**Brian Davis, Dallas Morning News:** Baylor [will go back to][4] Blake Szymanski at quarterback after he was benched for the last two games.**Dave Matter, Columbia Tribune:** Missouri is trying to move on after losing [Pig Brown][5] to injury.**Berry Tramel, The Oklahoman:** Speak of the devil. Mike Gundy’s weeks-old tirade toward columnist Jenni Carlson [has created parodies][6] from coast to coast and made him a minor celebrity.**Don Williams, Lubbock Avalanche-Journal:** Shannon Woods saw his role as Texas Tech’s running back greatly reduced last week against Colorado. It’s [ not a one-time][7] thing, either.
