Pulling his chain

As we mentioned in the [Todd Reesing for Heisman][1] story we ran today, such publicity for such an award is something that Reesing doesn’t really get into with us.But his teammates sure will.”I haven’t told him yet, but I’m going to get one of those shirts. One of those ‘Reesing For Heisman’ shirts,” tight end Derek Fine said. “I haven’t told him yet, but I’ve got to go get it.”Reesing is considered a dark horse candidate, and KU actually received a letter in the mail today from the Heisman Trophy Trust alerting Reesing of what might come in the next six weeks with all the Heisman hype. But for Fine and others, like linebacker Joe Mortensen, the T-Shirts are the thing. Mortensen doesn’t have one but said he’d be glad to flaunt it if he got his hands on one. Fine, Reesing’s roommate, already did get one.”My sister bought one for Todd and we had it hanging up in the house for a while,” Fine said.It must be tough to be good.**Now, the nuts and bolts** of Tuesday’s press conference:**- Coach Mark Mangino,** on how Reesing has gotten by throwing just four interceptions this season: “Throw it to the guy with the same colored shirt.”**- Senior Day is Saturday,** which means a lot of the old guys on the team will be accommodating family flying into town. It’s OK for Cesar Rodriguez, though, because “my mom’s kind of the entertainer of the family.”**- No real injury updates** to give you regarding safety Patrick Resby. KU hasn’t practiced since we last talked to Mangino, so we’ll ask tomorrow after practice. Reesing, who was limping slightly during the Oklahoma State game, showed up Tuesday and appeared to be fine.** – Players of the game** on offense was wide receiver Marcus Henry. Defensive honors were split between Joe Mortensen and Darrell Stuckey. Special teams was Scott Webb. And a local shoutout, Free State High product Brian Murphy was offensive scout team player of the week.See you later with linky-dinks.
