I kid you not, you go cruising down the A1A (Beachfront Avenue!) with [A Flock of Seagulls][1] blasting out your radio, you’re going to feel like Tommy Vercetti on [Grand Theft Auto: Vice City][2] (the greatest video game of our time).A couple of the writers went to dinner last night in Fort Lauderdale, and while cruising down the A1A in a drop top, Paula Abdul’s “Straight Up” came on. One scribe said he felt a real feeling that he was in an ’80s movie montage.Couldn’t have said it better myself.**But back to reality.** Kansas defensive coordinator Bill Young and six defensive players chit-chatted with the media early Sunday morning about Virginia Tech, the Miami scene and, of course, Joe Mortensen’s [madman hair cut.][3]Nothing earth-shattering came out of it, but here’s a quick recap:**- Mortensen** said his bum knee feels a lot better, and said the warm weather of South Florida has helped. It definitely won’t keep him out of Thursday’s Orange Bowl.**- Cornerback Aqib Talib** still isn’t saying much about his NFL future and whether he’ll skip his senior season to go pro. But he did say he plans to discuss what he’s thinking with offensive tackle Anthony Collins. They may decide to go pro (or stay put) together.**- Defensive tackle James McClinton** said that Virginia Tech quarterback Tyrod Taylor is “Vick-like”. Michael Vick, of course, was a star at Virginia Tech and is probably now the greatest athlete ever to call Northern Neck Regional Jail home.**- Kansas will practice** early Sunday afternoon. About a dozen players will then head to Miami Veteran Affairs Hospital to visit patients.
