On the list of things that I don’t care about, Saturday’s Jayhawk loss ranks near the top, perhaps second to the latest season of Real World/Road Rules challenge. ![][1] So the Jayhawks laid an egg. It happens. What Bill Self can’t do right now is hit the panic button. Sure, his team hasn’t played well for the better part of a month. Still, this is a talented group of players who are still among the nation’s elite. If anything, Self should panic less. This season, Self has had a quick hook with every single one of his freshmen. If Russell Robinson turns the ball over, he sits for the rest of the game. If Alex Galindo jacks up an ill-advised three, he’s sitting next to Jeremy Case on the end of the Jayhawk bench. Tomorrow night, the Jayhawks invade Baylor for their most important game of the season. Self should show some faith in his young players and give them minutes against the Big 12’s worst team. After all, the freshmen can’t do any worse than the starters did on Saturday. If he doesn’t develop any notable depth over the next month, KU is in trouble. And I would hate for them to get blown out in a game that I actually care about.**Other Weekend Thoughts:** *Philadelphia over New England in the Super Bowl. Bet the mortgage on it, especially if the line creeps up towards nine points. *Is Jacksonville the worst Super Bowl city ever? I’d rather spend a weekend in Hays. *Did you see Nebraska guard Joe McCray’s act on Saturday? He should have been suspended for kicking Mike Lee in Wednesday’s game at the Fieldhouse. As time ticked off Saturday’s loss to Missouri, McCray swatted the ball out of Jason Horton’s hands, starting a [mini-brawl of sorts.][2] To top it off, he also had an intentional foul against the Tigers.
