Ray Bechard talks Final Four, facing Nebraska in hostile territory
Kansas volleyball coach Ray Bechard, in his 18th season with the Jayhawks, leads the program to its first Final Four this week.
Bechard likes that the Big 12 and midwest represented well in the NCAA Tournament this season, with Minnesota, Nebraska and Texas joining KU as national semifinalists, but he jokes it won’t exactly be a neutral setting when the Jayhawks face the Huskers in Omaha Thursday night (8:30 p.m., ESPN2).
An offseason trip to play some international competition, Bechard adds, helped mold this KU team (30-2) into something special.
And although KU has never defeated Nebraska in volleyball — the Huskers own the series, 86-0-1 — Bechard likes that this group of Jayhawks has never faced the former Big 12 juggernaut.
