After sitting through — and shedding some tears at — the senior-night speeches, Bill Self offered up an explanation for all the emotion felt by seniors Devonte’ Graham, Svi Mykhailiuk and Clay Young.
“A freshman, he can’t feel that,” the KU coach said. “They love this place.”
KU defeated Texas 80-70 in KU’s home finale on Monday.
The Jayhawks did so while wearing red uniforms, a suggestion that came from Graham a year before.
“I told him, ‘We better win,’ ” Self said, noting KU hasn’t always played well in red. “I was glad that we were able to pull it out.”
