Svi Mykhailiuk dabbles as KU’s point guard

By Staff     Dec 19, 2015

Kansas sophomore guard Svi Mykhailiuk, who handled KU’s point guard duties late during a blowout victory over Montana, says he first played as a lead guard a “maybe three, four years” ago, in his native Ukraine.

Mykhailiuk adds he tries to get time as a point guard during Kansas practices as much as he can.

The stint at point guard allowed Kansas to see how Mykhailiuk could fill in if regulars Frank Mason III or Devonté Graham were ever unavailable.

“I think they are better than me at the point guard position,” Mykhailiuk says, smiling, “but, you know, if I need to step up, I will step up.”

In order to be a complete player, the sophomore explains, he has to be more than just a shooter.
