McDonald’s play in secondary highlights KU’s opener

**1. Dexter McDonald**: Allowed a completion on third-and-8 for a first down and decided that would be enough for the night. Picked off two passes and returned them for 72 yards and added two pass breakups.
**2. Tony Pierson:** Made a great spin move to free himself for a sprint down the right sideline for a 67-yard touchdown reception. Rushed for 44 yards on three carries, including a 39-yard rush. Also had 95 receiving yards.
**3. De’Andre Mann:** Rushed for 121 yards on 15 carries in his KU debut. Mixed in one of his signature moves, the Walter Payton high-step, in impressive fashion.
**4. Nick Harwell:** By the end of his first quarter in a Kansas uniform, Harwell had more touchdown receptions (two) than any KU wide receiver had in the entire  2012 and 2013 season combined. He finished the game with four catches for 46 yards As a sophomore at Miami (Ohio), Harwell ranked third in the nation with 129.5 yards per game.
**5. Montell Cozart:** Completed 12 of 24 passes for 196 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for 28 yards.
**6. Ben Heeney:** Led the team with 11 tackles and did his best work after the game, calling out KU fans for leaving at halftime.
**7. Corey Avery:** Impressive debut. Rushed for 91 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries. Has the ability to make something out of nothing.
**8. Cassius Sendish:** Had four tackles and hit a receiver so hard the ball popped out and landed in Eric Boateng’s hands for an interception.
**9. Trevor Pardula:** Kicked two touchbacks, punted four balls inside the 20 and averaged 45.2 yards per punt.
**10. Ben Goodman:** Made his four tackles sting, sting, sting and two of them were for losses, including KU’s only sack.
