Relentless rebounding lifts Thomas Robinson to top of final ratings

By Staff     Apr 3, 2012

**1. Thomas Robinson:** Couldn’t get close shots to get through the hoop and made 6 of 17, but he battled hard and showed the nation why was the best rebounder in college basketball and will make a nice living in the NBA, where he’ll be able to rebound with the best of them. Had 18 points and 17 rebounds working in such congested traffic against such electric shot-blockers. Jumped remarkably high to pull one of the final rebounds of his career out of the sky.

**2. Elijah Johnson:** The guy’s one tough clutch shooter and a natural point guard primed for a big senior season.

**3. Tyshawn Taylor:** Had five turnovers, but also hit some tough shots on the way to 19 points, four rebounds, three assists and a steal. Finally hit a three-pointer in a dome, finishing his career 1 for 21 in dome three-point shooting and 4 for 41 in NCAA Tournament three-point shooting. His hard-driving, defense-collapsing ways will be missed, as will his enthusiasm and lively sense of humor.

**4. Jeff Withey:** Had four blocks, two steals and seven rebounds, showing strong effort, but made just 2 of 8 shots. Adding strength will enable him to finish at the rim better and expanding the range on his jumper will make him a great deal more difficult to guard next season.

**5. Conner Teahan:** Missed his only three-pointer, but battled hard defensively and had an assist and a steal in 17 minutes.

**6. Travis Releford:** Made just 1 of 6 shots and had an even rougher night defensively.

**7. Kevin Young:** Missed both free throws and had three rebounds, a blocked shot and four personal fouls in 11 minutes.

**8. Justin Wesley:** Played two minutes.
