1. Sherron Collins: If not for the senior point guard from Chicago, KU’s Allen Fieldhouse winning streak would have ended at 50. Would not be denied on drives to the hoop. Finished with 33 points, three assists, one turnover, two steals and four rebounds in 35 minutes.
2. Cole Aldrich: At the start of the game, had the ball isolated on Cornell 7-footer on the block and instead of powering up or flipping a hook shot, he stepped back to take a longer baseline jumper and missed. Not quite as confident in his power down low as he should be for a player with his ability. Still, contributed 13 points, nine boards and three blocked shots.
3. Brady Morningstar: Is there any type scorer he can’t shut down? Checked Ryan Wittman in the second half and encountered much more success on him than did Tyshawn Taylor.
4. Xavier Henry: If executives from In-‘N-Out burger had been watching they would have asked Xavier to become a spokesman once he moves onto the NBA. That’s what his driving shots were doing all night, in and out. Made 3 of 5 three-pointers and missed all eight two-point attempts. Had six rebounds, four steals and three turnovers.
5. Tyrel Reed: Played solid defense against Louis Dale and hit a gargantuan three-pointer from the right corner late in the game.
6. Tyshawn Taylor: Scoreless in 22 minutes. Did have three assists, one steal and just one turnover. Seems to have too many answers for the coach when corrected. Might do better to nod affirmation more often.
7. Markieff Morris: Had six rebounds but missed all four field goal attempts.
8. Marcus Morris: Had just one point and two rebounds in 24 minutes. Also had three steals. Has been far more consistent as a sophomore but this was a flashback-to-freshman-season game for him.
9. C.J. Henry: Picked up an assist by finding his brother wide open in the left corner for a three.
10. Thomas Robinson: Picked up a rebound, an assist and a turnover in three minutes.
