Talib goes out (maybe) on top

_After each KU football game this season, this is where you can find out the gridiron equivalent of The Nielsen Ratings from Journal-World sports editor Tom Keegan. He’ll rate the Top 10 Jayhawk individual performances, telling you who was worth tuning in to watch. If you agree or maybe even differ, make sure to comment and tell Tom how you really feel. (**Scoring**: Each week, the top player in the ratings will be awarded 10 points. Second best gets nine points. Third best gets eight points, and so on and so on. The season standings are at the bottom)_**1. Aqib Talib**: Returned an interception 60 yards for the game’s first score, earned so much respect that the Hokies pretty much stayed away from him, and also did the best job of returning punts of anybody all season.**2. Joe Mortensen**: Blocked what would have been a game-tying field goal, had the back end of back-to-back sacks early in the game.**3. Mike Rivera**: Credited with nine-and-a-half tackles, all of which were delivered with exclamation points. **4. Dexton Fields**: Tough, sure-handed and ever-reliable, Fields gave Reesing a place to put the ball all night. Finished with 101 receiving yards.**5. Todd Reesing**: On the run all night, Reesing still managed to throw for 227 yards and a touchdown and threw just one interception. He also rushed for a touchdown. Took punishing lick after lick and kept ticking.**6. Justin Thornton**: His interception return to the 3-yard line set up KU’s final score.**7. Chris Harris**: Showed great agility in making an interception and hung tough when the Hokies tried picking on him while avoiding Talib.**8. Russell Brorsen**: Had huge 11-yard sack early in the game and was active all night.**9. Kyle Tucker**: Averaged 50 yards a punt.**10. Micah Brown**: His work as a gunner prevented a return and pinned Virginia Tech inside the 10 late in the game. He also made a reception on a fake punt.**The Keegan Ratings: Season Standings (total points)** **1.** Todd Reesing (89 points) **2.** Aqib Talib (69 points) **3.** Marcus Henry (51 points) **4.** Brandon McAnderson (50 points) **T-5.** Anthony Collins (46 points) **T-5.** Joe Mortensen (46 points) **7.** Mike Rivera (39 points) **8.** Dexton Fields (34 points) **9.** Jake Sharp (32 points) **T-10.** James McClinton (30 points) **T-10.** Darrell Stuckey (30 points) **12.** Kerry Meier (27 points) **13.** Justin Thornton (24 points) **14.** James Holt (23 points) **15.** Dezmon Briscoe (21 points) **T-16.** Derek Fine (18 points) **T-16.** Chris Harris (18 points) **18.** John Larson (10 points) **T-19.** Marcus Herford (9 points) **T-19.** Kyle Tucker (9 points) **21.** Kendrick Harper (7 points) **22.** Scott Webb (5 points) **23.** Raimond Pendleton (4 points) **T-24.** Max Onyegbule (3 points) **T-24.** Dakota Lewis (3 points) **T-24.** Russell Brorsen (3 points) **T-24.** Jeff Wheeler (3 points) **T-24.** Ryan Cantrell (3 points) **T-24.** Chet Hartley (3 points) **T-30.** Jake Laptad (2 points) **T-30.** Raymond Brown (2 points) **T-32.** Jamal Greene (1 point) **T-32.** Micah Brown (1 point)
