The Keegan Ratings: Collins tops list for second straight game

By Staff     Jan 20, 2007

_After each KU basketball game this season, this is where you can find out the basketball equivalent of The Nielsen Ratings from Journal-World sports editor Tom Keegan. He’ll rate the Jayhawks’ individual performances from top to bottom, telling you who was worth tuning in to watch and who has seen better days. If you agree or maybe even differ, make sure to comment and tell Tom how you really feel._**1. Sherron Collins**: The play called for him to drive to the hoop to cut the deficit to one, but he saw the opportunity to take a game-tying three-pointer that missed. It’s good that he had the confidence to improvise and even better that Bill Self was not critical of him for doing so. Collins is on his way to being a big scorer and playmaker for KU. **2. Russell Robinson**: He did a terrific job of following Jarrius Jackson around screens throughout Jackson’s scoreless first half. Robinson also snuck inside to contribute in big ways during the late 13-1 run that tied the game. **3. Darrell Arthur**: He got hot for a brief stretch from the left baseline, but he missed far too many short banks, shooting a hard line drive. **4. Mario Chalmers**: Fouled out of the game with five points, five rebounds and three steals; a quiet day in which he had plenty of company in that regard. **5. Sasha Kaun**: Played 25 minutes and had one rebound. Repeat: Played 25 minutes and had one rebound. **6. Brandon Rush**: Settled for jumpers too often instead of driving hard to the hoop. He shot 4-of-14 from the field. **7. Julian Wright**: Took three bad shots from the perimeter in the first half and missed all three. He did not have an assist and played so poorly Self only gave him 17 minutes. **8. Darnell Jackson**: Picked up two rebounds in four minutes. **9. Rodrick Stewart**: Played just two minutes. **10. Jeremy Case**: Only played a minute. Prediction: There will be a game KU needs someone to bust the zone, Self will turn to Case, Case will come through and join the rotation.**The Keegan Ratings: Season Standings (total points and average rank)** **1.** Mario Chalmers (64, 19 games) 3.36 **2.** Brandon Rush (67, 19 games) 3.52 **3.** Julian Wright (71, 19 games) 3.73 **4.** Darrell Arthur (79, 19 games) 4.15 **5.** Sherron Collins (89, 19 games) 4.68 **6.** Russell Robinson (96, 19 games) 5.05 **7.** Sasha Kaun (86, 16 games) 5.37 **8.** Darnell Jackson (118, 19 games) 6.21 **9.** Rodrick Stewart (131, 15 games) 8.73 **10.** Brady Morningstar (67, 7 games) 9.57 **11.** Jeremy Case (87, 9 games) 9.66 **12.** Matt Kleinmann (73, 7 games) 10.43 **13.** Brennan Bechard (51, 4 games) 12.75 **14.** Brad Witherspoon (53, 4 games) 13.25
