The Keegan Ratings: Slim pickings

By Staff     Nov 15, 2006

_After each KU basketball game this season, this is where you can find out the basketball equivalent of The Nielsen Ratings from Journal-World sports editor Tom Keegan. He’ll rate the Jayhawks’ individual performances from top to bottom, telling you who was worth tuning in to watch and who has seen better days. If you agree or maybe even differ, make sure to comment and tell Tom how you really feel._**1. Darrell Arthur**: Had a rough night defensively, but had plenty of company in that regard. On a team that has had problems with big men being too deliberate offensively, Arthur is very quick with the ball, which makes him able to pile up garbage points. Scored a game-high 22 points. **2. Darnell Jackson**: Had 10 points and 10 rebounds in just 19 minutes. Would have played more minutes if he had been more effective defensively. He also sat a good part of the second half with a minor leg injury, but had two big putbacks down the stretch. **3. Russell Robinson**: When play gets sloppy, as it did in the first half with 14 turnovers, Robinson is the one player who can be counted on to keep his head. Had just one turnover, six assists and six rebounds in 31 minutes. Missed layups (2-for-8 from the field) and free throws (2-for-5) tainted his night. **4. Mario Chalmers**: Had key blocked shot, steal and jam down the stretch and scored 13 points. **5. Julian Wright**: Flashed back to early last season in terms of being too out of control at times, shot poorly (3-of-10) and turned the ball over six times. Did contribute 12 points and five blocked shots. **6. Brandon Rush**: Didn’t get into the flow of the game, didn’t rebound (three) and didn’t hit free throws (3-of-7). **7. Rodrick Stewart**: Gave a nice boost of energy with a steal and an assist in seven minutes, but the offense tended to grind to a halt when he had the ball. **8. Sherron Collins**: Drew his second first-half foul when he charged into a defender on a drive and went scoreless in 14 minutes. **9. Matt Kleinmann**: Had one rebound and two turnovers in four minutes.
