It’s time for the annual blog series countdown projecting the 25 most valuable players for the Kansas football team.
**No. 25: Quan Hampton, sophomore receiver**
As a true freshman, Hampton started all six games in which he was healthy enough to play, an indication of how highly the coaching staff thinks of his talent.
A 5-foot-8, 178-pound inside receiver, Hampton plays taller than that, thanks to leaping ability that enables him to dunk a basketball with some flash.
Hampton’s size makes him a difficult target to grab onto, but also makes him a greater injury risk than a bigger player.
Asked for his surprise pick for a big season, junior receiver Daylon Charlot said, “Kerr Johnson and Quan Hampton. They’re smart players who come to work hard every day in practice. I believe that’s going to translate to the game.”
Hampton, a Texarkana, Texas, native, caught 21 passes for 145 yards last season.
