The Big 12 South figures to be a division that stresses the pass in 2010 considerably more than Big 12 North teams, which seem to rely more upon the running game.
Like pretty much all other years, the South will likely come down to Texas and Oklahoma next fall. But how many Longhorns and Sooners were drafted in our Big 12 South draft?

WR: Detron Lewis, Texas Tech (13)
WR: Uzoma Nwachukwu, Texas A&M (18)
**Favorite pick:** Broyles. Easily. He’s the best returning receiver in the Big 12 and possibly the conference’s premier skill position player. If OU has a big year, Broyles could see another year like his junior campaign last season, in which he exploded for 89 catches, 1,120 yards and 15 TDs. Having quarterback Landry Jones as a sophomore instead of an inexperienced freshman will only help, too.
**Least favorite pick:** Potts. The senior is in a quarterback battle with senior Steven Sheffield, though. Both quarterbacks are injured and won’t throw again until June.
**Overall likes:** I think we have some solid talent spread across every position. I think Michael could go crazy this season if Texas A&M makes a push in the South. As a freshman, Michael rushed for 844 yards and 10 scores. Our RB duo looks good with Tech’s Batch as well.
**Overall dislikes:** Lack of quarterback depth if Potts doesn’t earn the start out of fall camp.
**Team sleeper:** No question, Nwachukwu. The sophomore will benefit from the experienced Jerrod Johnson at quarterback this season. Sure, Jeff Fuller and Ryan Tannehill are still there at receiver, but there’s plenty of passes to go around. And Nwachukwu could be the most talented pass catcher in College Station, Texas, this season. He caught 40 catches for 708 yards and six TDs as a freshman last year.
**Jesse (selected second overall)**
QB: Jerrod Johnson, Texas A&M (2nd overall)

QB: Brandon Weeden, Oklahoma State (20)
RB: Kendall Hunter, Oklahoma State (5)
RB: DeMarco Murray, Oklahoma (8)
WR: Jeff Fuller, Texas A&M (11)
WR: Hubert Anyiam, Oklahoma State (14)
WR: Malcolm Williams, Texas (17)
**Favorite pick:** Murray at No. 8. I don’t know how he fell behind guys like Landry Jones and Christine Michael, but I’ll take it. I was thrilled to get Johnson at No. 2 and Hunter at No. 5 as well.
**Least favorite pick:** Williams. After bashing the Texas receivers during the draft, I ended up taking one. This still could be a good pick, but I was going to be happy to let Williams be a YPNM (your problem, not mine) player.
**Overall likes:** I was able to get three of my four top-ranked players in Jerrod Johnson, Kendall Hunter and DeMarco Murray. I think I picked up good value on each of my early picks.
**Overall dislikes:** I’m not in love with my final two picks. Texas’ Williams is filled with potential, but he isn’t proven just yet. Oklahoma State’s Weeden, meanwhile, has won the starting job, but he’s not a lock to put up the kinds of stats that other QBs in the South will.
**Team sleeper:** Jeff Fuller and Hubert Anyiam might not be familiar names to Kansas fans, but expect huge numbers from both of them this year. Fuller is the top option for A&M’s passing game, while Anyiam should only build off his impressive sophomore season when he filled in for Dez Bryant. Both Fuller and Anyiam were top three on my board for South receivers, so I was happy to be able to get both of them.
**Matt (selected third overall)**
QB: Robert Griffin, Baylor (3rd overall)
QB: Garrett Gilbert, Texas (4)
RB: Tre’ Newton, Texas (9)
RB: Fozzy Whittaker, Texas (19)
WR: James Kirkendoll, Texas (10)
WR: Alex Torres, Texas Tech (15)
WR: Kendall Wright, Baylor (16)
**Favorite pick:** Kirkendoll. Somebody has to emerge as UT’s next big threat and I think Kirkendoll can be that guy.

**Least favorite pick:** Foswitt Whittaker. I knew I had to take a RB and didn’t want to do the obvious thing and take the last remaining starter. I probably should have.
**Overall likes:** Clearly, I’m thrilled with my quarterbacks. Griffin, before being injured, was one of the most explosive players in the conference and Gilbert, as shown in relief of Colt McCoy in last year’s national championship game, is an up-and-coming star. These two were my top two QBs at the position and I got them both.
**Overall dislikes:** I’m not crazy about my running backs and that’s largely because they play for the same team. Newton has the chance to be a really good and Whittaker’s got talent but the odds of both producing at high enough levels to give me a good one-two punch are low.
**Team sleeper:** Wright. I’m banking on Griffin returning to form and if he does, Wright will be the guy who benefits the most for Baylor.
