One high school quarterback who has caught the eye of Kansas’ coaching staff has said he will share his college decision next week.
Kasen Weisman, a 6-foot-2, 180-pound three-star quarterback from Douglasville, Georgia, plans to make his announcement on Thursday. Kansas offered him a scholarship in mid-February, and he has received scholarship offers from more than 30 schools, including Cal, Colorado State, Hawaii, Tulane and UNLV.
He had planned to share his finalists in early June before reconsidering, then attended Kansas’ “Friday Night Lights” camp on June 24, when he threw for the coaching staff for roughly two hours.
Weisman, who is being recruited by quarterbacks coach Jim Zebrowski, is a dual-threat quarterback. He completed 62.8% of his passes for 2,035 yards and 17 touchdowns with six interceptions last season at South Paulding High while running 77 times for 289 yards and eight touchdowns.
He is considered the No. 65 quarterback in the country by 247Sports. Rivals.com, which has not evaluated his status among quarterbacks, graded him as the No. 85 player in Georgia.
