Kansas WRs coach Emmett Jones speaks 'truth' when recruiting

There are 1700 players in the NFL, five are former Jayhawks. 17% (287) came from schools ranked in this years final top 10 AP poll. Forget about those guys, we ain't gonna' beat Alabama (44) for many recruits but we need to catch our Big 12 rivals like Baylor (9), KSU (10), Tech (13), TCU (13) and WV (14).

35% of current NFL players came from outside the power five conferences and hundreds more signed with also-rans like Oregon. St (12), Illinois (12) and Rutgers (13).

Maybe we shouldn't try so hard to go head-to-head with LSU (40) but we better be able to recruit with Arkansas (13).

It's official: Les Miles becomes KU's next head football coach

The great runs by the Jayhawks in 2008 and the Royals in 2015 ended up being “lightning in a bottle” and the lack of follow-up success saw the stands empty and the buzz wasted.

Those were fun rides but I hope Miles builds us a “solid program”. By solid I mean: Give us regular shots at bowl games. Give us the occasional run at the big 12. Give us upsets of top ten teams. Give us top 25 rankings. Give us reasons to buy KU football jerseys. Give us NO REASON to leave at halftime. Give us more wins than losses against KSU. Do that and we’ll give you 50,000 fans on game day!!

Yes. The first sentiment from Miles about his new job mentions “...will have great coaches..”. He knows, he knows!!

A month after KU coach caught on wiretapped phone call discussing recruit and money, chancellor has not talked to coach

Yeah, I was trying brevity! Point is, defense attorney did not offer context to his “transcripts” and judge tossed it out. That’s all the proof I need that defense was trying to pull a fast one!

Townsend, “...we’re going to have to do it some way.”

(10 minutes later in Bill Selfs office)

Townsend: “Zion wants jobs and cash!”

Coach Self: “Well, Kurtis, I guess he’s going to Duke ‘cause we ain’t doing that.”

Tom Keegan: Pick your favorite next KU football coach from this list of 17 names

The "Texas recruiter" didn't pan out. Now it's time for a "coach 'em up" guy.

3-star and 4-star recruits don't settle for rebuilding projects so we'll be recruiting mostly 2-star prospects. We need a coach who'll spend countless hours in the film room, not crisscrossing Texas finishing second on the recruiting trail.

Willie Fritz has good contacts in Louisiana, Texas, Kansas and Missouri. Ask the HS coaches for their under-sized, kinda slow-footed, mean-as-hell football junkies and coach 'em up!!

We'll worry about 3-star and 4-star guys after we finish 6-6!

Silvio De Sousa will not play in KU's exhibition opener

Guilty! So, there!

Silvio De Sousa will not play in KU's exhibition opener

Well, it's more complicated than that. A kid from Africa was discovered by a shoe company scout, brought to the U.S., placed on an elite AAU basketball team, attended high school academy for free, housed is style for free and attended college for free. When he chose to switch his shoe company allegiance (twice) someone had to account for the expenses.

No one here is to blame. Unfortunately, shifty backrooms deals come with the territory.

As college basketball corruption trial comes to a close, KU could be facing several NCAA code violations

So here's a crummy silver lining: Today the spotlight is on us; KY, NC, Nova, AZ and Duke ...your day is coming.
