Key questions for KU football's position groups as preseason camp begins

True, a good pass rush can make all the difference. Hopefully in the future the depth will line up where they can be experienced at all positions.

It is too bad KU lost almost all their Secondary. The defense made great strides last year, and the D-line and Linebackers should be pretty solid again. But in the Big 12, so many teams run no huddle offenses and spread the field out. Hopefully a couple of guys can step up and it is not a big weakness all year, especially on 3rd down.

Signing-day suprise fuels already percolating optimism for Kansas football offense

Thanks Tom...Certainly some talent to throw the ball to. Great opportunity for one of the QB's to succeed. More so than when Crist and Heaps were here.

Isn't there one other QB who is coming to the team next year? From Louisiana?

Hopeful, but have to wait and see on Bender, since have been burned before with Crist and Heaps.... also hope Matthews pans out as well. Never sure on a JC guy....If Kansas can get a QB difference maker, then things will improve so much.

David Beaty era opens with 41-38 loss to South Dakota St.

Feel bad for Cozart to have the game end like that..... thing was with the clock stopped at 7 seconds... there was PLENTY of time to line up and spike the ball without having to hurry. He just got in too much of a rush and flubbed it... Cozart showed a lot of improvement from last year... but of course the competition will now get stronger. And the defense is on for a long, long year, especially with a fast tempo offense like KU's which will put them on the field more.

Column: NCAA needs to fight back

I agree with your point where the NBA would not accept having a guy in the draft who could just decide to go to college instead... does the team just lose that draft pick altogether?

Maybe any player who wants to try NBA after high school can enter themselves into a NBA developmental league draft... and if chosen can join that team for a salary. Each developmental team can have a parent team, who could promote that player at any time if they are good enough..... any player not selected in draft must play 2 years of college before being eligible for NBA draft....

Spring dates and other KU football notes

It is unfortunate for Beaty that KU lost Heeney, and so many members of the secondary... as well as their 2 best WR's... the cupboard is pretty dry as far as proven players. Weis didn't do the program any favors with his JC recruiting... hopefully Beaty and Bown can start something this year and bring some stability... results may take some time though.

KU confirms hire of David Beaty as new football coach

Familiar with Kansas program- check
Familiar with Texas high schools- check
Guy who specializes on offense, and agreeable to have Bowen run defense- check
Good with boosters- check
Young coaching wise- check

I think the first one is key, I highly doubt Gill and Weis knew what they were getting into, as far as the talent level, fan apathy... I am glad that Beaty has the familiarity of being here in good year and bad year.
